Many people believe Detroit is a "blank canvas" and that their start-up will save the city. Although it may seem vacant, there is a pre-existing community with specific needs in each neighborhood. A classmate and I created this board game to illustrate the importance of including the pillars of community when planning your business.
The game board is broken up into six, two by three neighborhoods. Each player takes turns choosing a piece from the stack, and placing it in a zone. Like Sodoku, there cannot be the same color within each row, column, or neighborhood.
With the right state of mind, this game becomes a powerful tool to understanding the fundamentals of a successful community. Through trial and error we were able to find a perfect medium to which users could have fun, think logically, and take away an impactful message.
